My LS60 B1200 arrived today!! new
      #3412540 - 10/26/09 05:44 PM

After a VERY long few weeks of waiting I finally got my Lunt 60 today! As I opened my door to let a friend out of the house the van pulled up and out came the delivery man. But my face dropped when I saw him drop the box 1/2m to the ground . After a quick check It was all ok though...

Taking the box straight to the garden (I was keen enough to read the instructions multiple times on the internet already) I unpacked and set it up on my photography tripod and to my surprise there was no issue with it falling/sturdiness. But as I looked up I knew I would not be able to see much of the sun today as clouds covered most of the sky. I only had a few chances (lasting 30 seconds each in the gaps to see the sun. , but I was happy to make out the sun-spot.

A month ago when my interest peeked in solar observing I started to look for a scope. After all of the UK suppliers told me there was no LS60s in stock I thought I would have a painfully long wait to get one. But richard from startelescopes (highly recommended) was able to source one from America, so panic over. And now here I am praying for both clear skies and night.

Congrats! you are REALLY going to love it once the weather lets you have clear skies. Ive only been able to view a few sun spots since getting my 60 and it amazes me how much of a difference there is between a PST and the 60.

Enjoy!

You are going to freak when you have enough clear sky to get that thing focused and tuned perfectly. The detail begins to pour off the sun. Don't say I didn't warn you!

I sincerely hope your first "real" view will be of a highly active sun. Mine was, and the shock was unforgettable.

I have the same LS60 B1200 scope with pressure tuner.

I use a Black night binoviewer with 2X corrector and 2 - 16mm Nagter T5. Mag is 63x. Whole disk is visible - and the views are quite good. It does take me some practise to get a good view of the proms.

Well done! Making up what to go for takes alot of hard thinking. More sun this week and more smiles. Was it a pressure tuner?

Nope it was not a pressure tuner. All of today's after there was a fairly clear sky so I got a few hours to gaze and "image". The setup was pretty quick and I was happy and excited as I tweaked the bandpass to see different details (??). I was able to easily make out the sunspot, but the prom was harder to see.

Here is a picture I was able to take in the afternoon, I need A LOT more practice imaging and processing but thats fun

You will find that there will be days where proms are incredibly huge and detailed. Sunspots also really vary in size and visibility.
