The Butterfly and Sadr new
      #3416187 - 10/28/09 01:59 PM Attachment (19 downloads)

Here's a shot of the complex of nebulosity around Sadr (Gamma Cygni) that contains IC1318, NGC 6888 and the NGC 6914/vdb31/vdb32 area.

http://www.astropix.com/HTML/SHOW_DIG/IC1318.HTM

It was taken with a modified Canon 1000D (Digital Rebel XS) and 200mm f/2.8 lens.

It's a composite of 3 hours of RGB data and 1 hour of Hydrogen-alpha data for 4 hours of total exposure.

This had to be one of the most difficult images I have ever processed.

I've got the full story here on my blog if anyone is interested:

Usually this target is a bit over processed from my taste but yours is very smooth and full of detail all over and framed excellent too.

Amazing shot. Not only is it very fascinating to see all the complex nebulosity, but also to see how different nebulas are connected to each other. This widefield picture really give a fantastic overview of this part of the sky.
