Thanks, ricci, looks like I will have good skies that night, so they say.

I gave up, a near first. Seeing so terrible I could not focus the edge of the Moon. Disheartening.

I tried to find it through binoculars but the moon was so bright, I couldn't see any stars at all.

I stumbled across this by accident last night. The sky was clear, which was unusual for this year, so I grabbed my binoculars to look around. Naturally, the Moon was a good target and - surprise! - there were the Pleiades right next to them.
It was a beautiful sight and offered a nice size comparison between the Moon and the Pleiades. The Moon "looks" larger because of how bright it is, but in reality, the whole of the Pleiades cluster covers a larger area than the Moon.

I went over to Eastern Washington in an "attempt" to do some observing and maybe some photography. Couldn't see the Pleiades because of the cloudy conditions. "weather report said; mostly clear" I took this picture on my way back over Stevens Pass. 4000 feet elevation. You can see the clouds get thicker in the direction of the Pleiades and the moon.
