1/2 down ($4900) to order. Balance due before they ship (December)

In case you aren't aware, you don't need to make a deposit when you put your name on the list. You only make a deposit when they call and "say your number is up". Depending on the timing, that's anywhere from a few weeks to about 9 months.

Is there some advantage to going through a retailer? AP takes orders direct. I'm really curious about what value Anacortes adds to the whole transaction, because I don't see any at all.

If you transact the order on-line, you earn discount points that can be used towards your next purchase.

Which doesn't cover what they charge for shipping. The only advantage to buying from them is if AP's allotment is full. Back in the day, when these mounts were produced in fewer numbers, you could place your name on every list, ATWB, AP, Company7, in order to increase your odds. Not really necessary now.

I bought both my AP mounts from Herb and they did not charge any shipping since the mounts where drop shipped directly from AP.

I used the earned points to buy a couple accessories later on. And since I use that other on line buying/selling place a lot I like to give him business when I can.

Likewise here, I bought a scope, binos, and other items from Astronomics over the years too.

That was my experience, too.

Good points guys. I would order from AP directly, same with TEC and Tak(TNR). But that's a personal preference I guess.

I had great luck getting my TEC200 through Anacortes. The only difference between Anacortes and TEC direct was Anacortes had one alloted!
