I did 3 Solar Astronomy events this week. I am getting a lot more requests now for some reason. Maybe the facebook group? Anyway, at this school in Atlanta we had a real treat. We saw a close up of the Sunspots through a new Explorer Scientific 127mm triplet with Baader film. It was startlingly good resolution and we could zoom n real close. I also had the double stacked 90mm Coronado set up along with the 9.25 schmidt in white light. The school got sort of carried away at the end and just sent the entire school out at one time. This was NOT a very good way to do it as I had to break up 2 or 3 shoving matches and it was very difficult to watch all 3 setups for kids sticking their fingers in the wrong places or messing with the buttons (power) on the mounts. Anyway, we made it through with only a few moinor incidents and I think that a few of the kids got a good bit of motivation out of it.

I know what you mean. Some times we forget that kids are kids, and they often act like it. I have done outreach for "advanced science students" in Middle School and while it seems worth while to me to get the kids interested it always seems like a small minority always nod off or lolly gag around and need adult supervision.

That's one heck of a queue going there Stephen! they all look like they're enjoying themselves. I'm always amazed at the number of finger prints that are on all the equipment after i've finished - sticky fingers get everywhere!
