Last monday's single clear night let me attempt a few targets - since I had what seemed to be a good polar alignment I decided to try and push the limits of my setup and attempt the Horsehead Nebula. Given the fact that I was shooting unguided on a CG-5, with an unmodified camera, through a medium level of light-polution with no filters, and on a night with the moon only just set I am rather happy to have gotten *anything* out of the attempt!
I did not have much time to work on this, so this is a stack of only 3 frames of 5 minutes each, no darkframes. I did do bad-pixel removal from a temperature mismatched bad-pixel file from an imaging session a month previous and it helped.
A jpg version of the full-resolution file can be found here.
I hope that I am able to get back to this target with no moon and a guide camera/scope before it sets again for the season!

I think all things considered that is a super shot , you could always use more subs but thats always true.
This is a tough target for an unmodded camera but you are pulling a lot out of it.

ya, this was just one of those "can I get anything from this *AT ALL*?" curiosity shots.
