EDIT: I changed this post, after studying the picture carefully.
The scope is clearly old, and I'd say definitely german of origin. I am thinking Zeiss, yet it has some details I am not so sure of, especially the missing focuser lock knob and the fact the focuser knobs don't have a screw head in the middle.
It also resembles a Heyde, yet in some ways, it doesn't.
Can you get to take some pictures of the lens, complete with any inscriptions on the cell, as well as any on the focuser or elsewhere?? That would give us something to work with.
That said, the scope is genuine, so I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.

It was inherited, so it must be old anyway, and is currently in Norway.
My heart jumps when I hear Zeiss!

Go for it, for heaven's sake! It's the kind of thing we all dream of!
Even if it is some little-known brand name or even homemade, it still looks like a very nice scope.

The alt/az mount, brass work and fittings look very similar to the old Georg Buttenschoen I've been fixing up here
any makers marks? it should also have a diagonal similar to ours. What size is the eyepiece?

Hi,
Buttenschön was my first thought, too. Because of the eyepiece and focuser. The mount also has some details, that could be from Buttenschön. But i have only one cataloge and there was no similiar.

The owner told me it has a large collection of eyepieces with it.

Nice find !!
This is a Piet Meesters telescope made between 1926-1960.I collect them so if you ever want to sell I like to hear.
Value between 200 and 300 Euro at the most.I have bougt several of these scopes between 50 and 700 Euro ( 80mm EQ on large wooden pyramid tripod last month )
Look at the focuser they are identical......Piet Meesters made all of the brass work and ota`s and the lenses and eyepieces were ordered by several optical company's.
