I just purchased a Sony a850 DSLR camera and a TRUE-2 adapter to attach it it to my NP101. Does anyone know if I need to add a focal reducer to the setup? I am just getting back into astrophotography after a 4 year absence. The weather in eastern PA has been poor and I am looking forward to a clear night.

First off,get rid of that cam...and send it to me!! Seriously,NICE camera! Not sure about the NP101's imaging circle size, but I have seen images taken with the STL 11k full frame sensor and there was VERY minimal vignetting/distortion at the corners. But I cant recall if they ued a field flattner/reducer.. Sorry. Good luck.It sounds like you have some nice equipment. What kind of mount are you using? CS!

For years, I used a GP-D2 mount with the none PC SkySensor GoTo. I wasn't happy with the inability of not being able to hook my rig up to a PC and use some of the software that was out there. Then I had a personal set back with the loss of my wife. I put everything away. Now, about four years since her passing I decided to get back into my backyard astronomy sessions. I purchased a CGEM and so far am very pleased with it. I also looked at the CGE and CGE Pro. I was afraid to move to the CGE because it was beginning phased out at the time I was looking and the CGE Pro is just too massive to bring in and out of the house (condo). Have you seen it in person. It is huge. The CGEM is just about as much as I can manage by my self. I also have a TV 60is that I piggy back on the NP101. So far the mount seems to be able to handle the additional weight. My biggest problem now is the lack of clear skies. It is overcast this morning. I cannot even set up my solar filters to gaze at the sun. Sorry about being so wordy.
