We used the Proto-type of this telescope and we were thrilled with it and really did not want to give it back. We have now tested the production version and are even more blown away! There are other OTAs that are similar, however, they do NOT have the special features that are STANDARD with the iOptron 152 mm f/12.5 MAK.
For details and a first owner report, see our web page by following this link: http://trapeziumtelescopes.com/cart/152-mm-makcass-p-31.html
You CAN spend less, but, you will also GET LESS! This is the best OTA with the BEST FEATURES for the BEST PRICE, BAR NONE!
WE ARE THE ONLY COMPANY TO HAVE THEM AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW!

I have not measured it, yet. I may open one up and take the micrometer to it if it's important. It appears to be right around 50 mm.

Can you also include the specs on the length of the OTA and its weight? I looked on the website, but did not see that information (useful when evaluating an appropriate mount for the OTA).

You are welcome.
The weight is about 14 pounds. The length of the OTA is 22 inches. The dew shield is 6 inches. Total length 28 inches.
I'll go over to the web site and add that information.
Thanks for letting me know that I had missed those items in the description.

Hi Steve, this scope looks like the Bosma made 6"MCT, very much like the version sold by Astronomics which is the AT6M. If its the same scope they had at Neaf early this year it did have some nice upgrades such as the 2 speed focuser and metal dew shield, are there any other upgrades over the standard AT6M than those? Jim:
This is the scope that was shown at NEAF this year. The major points are the optics are hand selected. Only the top OTAs are kept for this model. The dew shield and two speed focuser are STANDARD. (I am not aware of a pin locking dew shield being available for the AT6M at any price.) Other than that they are quite similar.

Thanks for the info Steve, I had a chance to meet you at NEAF this year, yes I was the guy who had one of the few 1st batch samples of the AT6M, also came up with the mod which improved contrast on the secondary. The rep from Bosma was very interested. They seem to build a very nice scope and it seems to be a close clone of the early Intes MK66 ota's. I ended up trading the scope for a 10" dob cause we ended up moving to a little darker skies but miss that little puppy cause it was right next to the Intes/Intes Micro MCT's I have owned on lunar veiws, just outstanding. I might give you a call in a few weeks and order one up, if they hand seleceted optics IYO is slightly better and I did like the scope they did show with the 2 speed focuser and dew sheild plus its half the money that a IM M603 is. It was the only scope that compared to my SW120ED in contrast on almost every object observed but the last C8 I purchased has been much better than the three I have owned before but I just like the way that mac looks. Having done stupid hi power tests on that scope made me feel that the figure on there optics was very good, when seeing is good lunar at 300X looked more like most scopes do around 150X just outstanding contrast and detail, even at around 600X it produced a nice image. Once the word gets around you should do very well with this scope. You should place more pics on your site showing the focuser and the dew sheild.

Jim:
Thank you for the ideas. I will indeed place more images on the site. I have just posted an article on our BLOG about the MAK.
We are taking another one out tonight for testing.
You mentioned "stupid powers" and last week we had one that was cranked up to 475x and was begging for more! We didn't have any EPs to go any higher! LOL
Thank you again and clear skies,
Steve

HI Steve, yes good optics on a MCT will do just that, I started with the Intes MK66 7 years ago and about three years back up graded to a Intes Micro M603 which had certified 1.8th wave optics as tested from ITE. I would place the AT6M right around the peformance of the MK66 which was 1/6th wave but IMO the AT6M seemed a little bettter, now with hand selected optics in your scope these scopes really sould be around the M603's performance or maybe even better. From what I understand these scopes have enhanced coating on the primary and secondary mirrors plus the corrector is MCTings on both surfaces which might be what helps the contrast on these scopes plus the baffling is done even nicer than the intes scopes since they have extra baffling on the secondary plus micro baffles in the main baffle tube that the mirror rides on. They added the 2 speed focuser and dew sheild, now thats a real nice scope, looks like you have a real winner there. I still remember the amount of contrast that the 6" scope showed on M42, the nebulosity was like etched in stone against a jet black sky background almost 3D like and linar landscapes were nothing short of outstanding, great stuff! NGC 404 (Mirach's Ghost) is a nice test for a smaller scope. It is a small10th mag galaxy that is only seven arc seconds from mag 2.1 Mirach. We viewed it with direct vision with a 19mm EP in each of these OTAs every time we have had one out. The skies have not been too all fired great, either.
The only problem for those of us who now have these scopes is that the weather has gone straight to Hell, AGAIN!!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!

These are going quickly. If you are at all interested you should consider ordering before we run out. About 1/2 of the original shipment is left.
