Hi,
So finally yesterday I was able to use my SkyScout other than on clouds. So decided to try the Identify option on the moon... and it didin't work, I was giving me stars names instead. So tried the locate function on the moon and had to align the moon with the right side of the SkyScout.
So I verified the Long., Lat. and Time that the GPS entered... and they were Ok. Change the Battery with and without the protecting sleeve. Updated the device to the latest firmware. Turn the device off and then back on. And I always got the same result on the moon.
So for a test I pointed the SkyScout on the stars of Ursa Major and then try Identify... And this time it's working. Try the same on Vega and Arcturus, same thing it's working. Try Locate on Cassiope and it worked. So I spent a major part of my night poiting the device to star and look at there names. I find that the SkyScout is a really nice device for begginer like me. It really help finding object in the sky and confirm the name of stars.
So is there other people that are having the same issue with the moon??? Not that I need the SkyScout to tell that it's the moon.
Thank you,

Martin

I guess when they made the SS they assumed no one was stupid enough to try to identify something that even a 2 year old knows how to identify. I was stupid enough tonight and did the same thing...lololol...no moon for me either. Serves me right. No one told me to do stupid tests..lolol

Mine has worked great since I bought it when it first came out. What it does at times, is if there are 2 objects that are very close. It will identify one over the other. It doesn't have the area as small as a laser pointer capability.
