      #3423921 - 11/01/09 02:55 PM

Hi gang:

The 2nd installment of my article on thermals is finally up on my web page. If you missed part 1, just scroll down a little further to find it.

Happy reading!

You might want to say a few words about tube materials and linings and how they bear on this problem - see the "Ultimate Newtonian" thread, where we had some real engineering talk from a member!

Could you point to the thread with a URL? I searched but came up blank for that thread title.

As for tube materials, I can see how the choice would be important for keeping heat from your body or other sources from getting into the light path, but I'd don't see how it can matter when it comes to cooling the primary mirror, which is job #1. I'd like to see what's in the thread though.

Regards,
Gary

Very good article Gary. Finding the correct size and mounting for these fans to be effective takes time. Everyone's scope and geographical location very greatly, so it would be nice if everyone would post some pics of their solutions. This could help others save some time and effort trying to find what works and what doesn't. Testing these configurations is a good excuse to go out when the Moon is up.
