I'm making a new 2" adaptor for my camera. I was wondering what is the thread count for 2"(48mm) filters?

I guess a better question is, What is the pitch for the metric thread?

I've just measured and it's 1mm pitch. The distance beteen two threads is 1mm. I hope I'm not wrong.

My pleasure Carl. Good luck on making the adaptor ! Couldn't you find an adaptor readelly made for your camera and spare the trouble?

its always best to count 10 threads and measure 10 and then divide by 10, that gets a more accurate measure. Grendel

I'm trying to improve the camera fit into the focuser. The stock SBIG nose piece has .005" clearance plus it is only 1" long. With the weight of the Camera/AO8, it is hard to get it to seat squarely. The one I'm making will have .002" clearance & 2.5" long. My hope is that when the camera is installed, the slop (rocking motion) will be gone.

This is true & thats what I always try to do, but there is only 3-4 threads on the filter that I have.

Carl, I hope you didn't start machining yet!! I apologise, I was terrible wrong. I've rechecked this morning in a better light and after measuring 10 threads like Grendel suggested it seems that the pitch is 0.7mm!! I hope I haven't ruin anything...yet

Again I'm terribly sorry but because of the poor evening light the first measurement wasn't so great . I'm glad I've corrected it just in time.
