Carrying case or bag for G-11 tripod
      #3425265 - 11/02/09 10:37 AM

Anybody out there have a recommendation for a carrying case or bag for a G-11 tripod? I have to walk a hundred yards or so from my car to a dark sky site, and the fewer trips lugging equipment (especially in the cold, dark night) the better.

To the best of my knowledge, the G11 does not lend itself to a case. The top of the tripod does not break down or fold and would require a large case to hold it.

Brian, I don't have one-bag solution, but I found that the bags that the folding chairs come in are ideal for to carry the legs (one leg per bag).

Hi,
Don't know how the CN rules apply in this case, but there IS a rather nice CN member here that does actually make carrying cases for the HD-Tripod and another for the pillar as well.

You may want to check them out.

NB: I do not work for, nor am I related in any way to the seller

Hope that helps.

Regards,

skybsd

I use Chevy Pick Up. It's sturdy enough to carry the G-11 and equipments.
If you tried Chevy instead of your Ferrari, you perhaps could drive to your site and you also had a place to warm in cold nights.

Well, I do not have G-11 (but it's on my wish list) but I use for tripod transportation (to/from my car - backseats) Orion's padded telescope case for a dobsonian. e.g. http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=cases_and_covers/~product_id=15174

it assumes, of course, that you own the folding tripod.

When I had a G11, I used a Contico Footlocker that I got at Walmart for $29. The legs would fit in the bottom, while the minipier would lie on top with a towel in between. Sometimes I had to maneuver the minipier around a bit for the lid to close, but it worked fine for me.

I do a similar thing with a plastic bin from Wal-Mart. It was under $15.00
