Starlight Microfocusers
      #3425346 - 11/02/09 11:38 AM

Anyone know of the reason for the delay in getting a C11 microfocuser? It's been sitting in backorder status at OPT for over a month.

Hi Steve,
Can't comment on the situation at OPT, but you may want to simply contact Starlight Instruments directly.

I've purchased all of my Feathertouch focusers directly from them (from Europe) and they've been extremely helpful to me on the phone in each of the telephone calls I've had with them too.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

skybsd

Maybe they're just busy, who knows?

Ordered a focuser with them directly on the 25th and it was shipped the 30th. That's 5 days for something that says "usually ships within 24h" in it's description. So it could be they're just swamped with work.
On the other hand, the above is quick since it currently takes customs 2 weeks to process this package.... sigh

Hi,
No doubt - it happens.

I shop from OPT regularly myself, but I prefer to go direct to the manufacturer whenever its possible, and in the case of my FeatherTouch Microfocusers, it worked out extremely well dealing with Starlight Instruments for me.

Regards,

skybsd

Have you tried www.starizona.com ? I picked up one from them for my NexStar a few months ago when most other dealers were out. They are good people to deal with.

Thanks, guys. I chatted online with OPT and they say they're expecting a shipment from Starlight soon, so I'll just wait a little while longer.

For those who are unaware the orginal owner, inventor and manufacturer of Starlight instruments retired and sold the business several months ago. I have no idea if customer service from the new owner will be as good as it once was. One can only hope.

It took the new company five months and four tries to get me an adapter that would fit my Pentax 75 (a part that is on their website, not custom order), and the old owner who is a great guy finally made me one himself. So yes the new company is having some problems.

The folks at Starizona are really "the" experts in regard to the feathertouch microfocusers. You might want to try them out, that is where I got all mine.
