I had some similar challenges several years ago while building a Dob.
I did have some limited success by using some Vaseline Petrolium Jelly on the end of the tubing but it makes getting a straight single cut harder.
Hard to imagine but those rollers are under a lot of pressure by the time you get the cutting wheel to start cutting in. The cutters were not made for annodized tubing. Most of us plumber types just cover the marks with good solder.

I'm thinking that wrapping the tube in aluminum duct tape might be a good way to solve this issue.
That stuff won't bunch up or move around, and it should protect the tube. The only real issue is getting the tape and its adhesive off when you are done. Unlike electrical tape, it will not peel off easily.
