here is an honest question,,, Why would someone pay $995 for sbigs autoguider when you can buy an Orion one for $280?
yes! yes!, I see that sbig's is semi stand alone unit but what dramatic improvement will sbig have over the orion?
while we are on autoguiders what about orions stand alone against sbig's stand alone,,, and then you have fishcamp's low noise sucker as well as starlight express' autoguider?
who makes the best and for the cheapest price (shop like NASA)

What John said PLUS once the guider is set up the first time, you literally have to press ONE button and the SBIG does the rest. You just sit back and wait for it to tell you that it's guiding.

Is that worth $500 buckaroos more than using a simple program like PHD and a mini laptop?
once guiding does it matter about the quality?
I had a STV and sold it because I was given the orion SSAG and saw no diff between the 2 autoguiders while using them well for "guiding". Sure the STV was loaded with "stuff" and including the ability to store 16 photos, polar alignment stuff, mount stuff... yada yada,, BUT all I needed was an autoguider!
and the stars with the stv were great as well as the star images using orions SSAG.

I guess it all depends upon how serious you are and your budget. I image probably 2x a month so the SSAG fits in well with my requirements and, most importantly, my limited budget.
