NJP on Celestron tripod
      #3427333 - 11/03/09 12:28 PM Attachment (8 downloads)

So, I was cleaning up my shop over the weekend, and realized that a scrap disk of 3/4" aluminum plate I had from another project was the right diameter to make an adapter plate from to mount my NJP on my Nexstar tripod. Since the NS 9.25 GPS is permanently mounted in my roof observatory, I haven't used the NS tripod since I got the scope.

The NJP came with the tall wooden tripod, which is great for SCTs and refractors, but not so hot for newtonians. It's also great for my 12.5" f/23 Cassegrain, but it's not so fun to hoist that OTA so high in the air (about head height to the saddle, same for the tall pier'd EM-500 I have for that scope), so for imaging planets (where I don't need to get my eyeballs down near the ground if the focuser is that low), I'll likely put the Cass on the NJP and Celestron tripod.

Here's a couple of pix:
