130 SLT pulse guide?
      #3427494 - 11/03/09 01:48 PM

Has anyone gotten pulse guide to work with the SLT, is it even capable? When I hooked up to Starry Night Pro 6 my exact scope is listed and selected but PHD says the SLT doesn't accept pulse commands, just wanted to make sure this is correct or if there is a work around.

Cheers!

~Nat~

PS latest ASCOM and Celestron drivers installed.

The scope has to be equatorially aligned for PulseGuide to work. if it isn't the mount raises and error and that's what PHD is reporting.

naturelich i think the SLT scopes cant do polar aligment, thats why phd says it cant pulse guide, you need a mount that can do eq aligment to work with it.

SLT can only do alt/azm aligment and phd only uses eq aligment for guiding. Sorry.

Thanks for the info guys, that stops me pulling my hair out for a solution now lol The SLT apparently can operate as EQ according to the handset, but so far I've not seen a wedge for it, and I dont think I'll be making one myself anytime soon!

Thanks for the helps guys.

well yes there is the option but the newt 130mm would hit the base anyway, maybe with a different OTA (like small SCT or mak) could be done, but i dont know if anybody has try to do eq aligment with a slt mount..wait maybe someone from here has try.

Thanks for that SB!

I've always been one for getting more out of somthing than it was supposed to produce out of the box. Looks like he's dropped the motor drive onto a mead tripod that had a built in wedge, thats somthing I'm gonna have to watch for now.

Thanks for the tips and help guys
