Hello everyone,
These are sketches from my october observations, made using 8" newtonian, at Negev desert. Weather conditions were not perfect (due to some dust) but acceptable.
In the first image - M42, M43 (The Orion Nebula), I finally decided to give it a try .

Very nice sketches Michael.
Stars are round, objects and field stars seem to be in place and the sketches have a good feel in them. Your M42 is one of the best I've seen in the "business" in years
Regarding your M42, did you use photoshop for the color? I'd write that down if you did especially in the October contest-post.
Negev desert sure does sound and seem like an interesting observing place. I've never done any stargazing in a desert - something I surely want to do at some point!

All excellent sketches with excellent text and documentation. I took particular interest in your M42 Orion Nebula. I was also curious about the color in it. It looks like you rendered it very accurate with the proverbial greenish glow, the way most observers describe it from a dark sky in a medium Newtonian. Beautifully done!

Thanks,
And to Jake's question: I obviously played with the colour in photoshop (levels), to make the look like I remembered it from the eyepiece. I'll add it to description.

Michael,
Nice to see your sketches here again. Well done as always and much attention to details. I like the color matches to the views - very nice.

Beautiful sketch of M42 Michael. I like the green color a lot. The trapezium is a lot more fuzzy then what I see. Must be a wonderful place for deep sky observing, that desert.

Michael,
Excellent observations of the Orion Nebula (M42/43), M76, NGC 6819, NGC 6826, and NGC 7662. You recorded the Orion Nebula with it's greenish (oxygen) hue very nicely. The planetary nebula are also recorded nicely. The Foxhead Cluster looks very interesting as well. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Michael,
Astonishing sketches all! As Jake mentioned, this Great Orion Nebula sketch is one of the finest I've ever seen. I love the diffuse glow, exactly as observed in very dark skies. Each of the other sketches is superb in it own right, they are just a little overshadowed by the brilliance of M42/43. Great to see you posting again.

Thanks for your replies =)
And the M42 is truly the most prominent deep sky object I can think of.
