ServoCat Installed
      #3428305 - 11/03/09 09:46 PM

After working on and off for a couple of weeks I finally took my 20" Obsession with the newly installed ServoCat and Argo Navis out tonight for a run.

I did a 2 star alignment on Polaris and Alpheratz. I selected Vega and it came up perfectly centered. I then selected M31 and it came up centered. Then M15 and it was slightly out of field in the 5:00 position. I then selected M57, it was barely in the field at the 5:00 position.

Looks like a tweak is needed. Over all I can tell that after all these years of hand tracking this system is going to spoil me. The ServoCat really moves out. Its like adding a turbo with cruise control to my scope.

Thanks Gary for selling me the equipment and guiding me through the process.

I have the 20" Obsession with Servo Cat and Arogo Navis also. There is a program that comes with the Servo Cat that you may have to run. It is called "Super Cal" I believe. The Servo Cat comes with general settings but Super Cal actually measures the scopes ratios. Each ground board and the Obsessions altitude bearings are a little bit different. I have installed the Servo Cat on three Obsessions and have had to run the Super Cal each time. I usually run three iterations and average the readings. The DVD that comes with the unit shows Gary running the Super cal. Watch it first as it will give you an idea of how to do it.
