I thought I had posted a message here about a source for slow motion knobs for Orion mount. But the question seems to have disappeared and I can't find it. One of my slow motion knobs slips. The screw is tight on the post, so it is not slipping there. The shaft seems to be loose and I see no way to tighten it. Who sells these knobs?---I need a new pair on a 6 inch shaft. ps Please don't move this message. bookworm

Our local Ace hardware carries a nice assortment of these types of knobs, I bought some there to replace the ra/dec knobs on an old vixen mount. If you have an ace near where you live you might try them first.

I was going to say Scopestuff as well. They've got flexible and stiff for sale.

I have purchased Knobs through www.focusknobs.com for a GP mount. The quality is nice (Anodized aluminumand brass). Orders are processed over the week-end. I'm not entirely clear by your description for what is needed but I think you could find it here.

I contacted the several sources that were suggested. A new knob can be had for $10-$20. However, I fixed the knob myself. What was happening was that the knob was turning on the shaft and thus was not moving the scope. I had tried to unscrew the knob from the shaft but it would not come off---it just kept turning. Finally, with the aid of pliers, I got the knob off of the shaft. The shaft is not threaded; it is just basically a fat spring with one end being glued into the receptacle in the knob. The glue had broken loose. That was the problem. I scraped the old glue off and used some super glue to re-attach the shaft to the knob. So far, everything works---for now. If it breaks free again I will definitely get a new set. bookworm

Vixen sells a couple of Slow Motion Knobs that might work. They also have a Flex Shaft Type.
