Ninox Resampling Problem / Question new
      #3415108 - 10/27/09 10:37 PM

I tried the ninox Resample 3/1, but when each channel is done the image develops lines through out the image. After ninox, I only stack the images with Registax. I use IRIS to process, and with just only a little bit of wavelettes is when the lines develope. Any help would be much appreciated, or the proper way to do this. Thanks!!

I don't have an answer. The same thing happens for me when I resample above 3/2. I know Bird goes 3x with great success.

I will try resampling to 2x this time. Maybe that will help?

Do you guys have the latest version? Try grabbing that from the website and check if it fixes the problem.

Bird,

With the newest (2.71) I don't see the lines when I resample at 3x. I do see a halo around very dark dots (like satellite shadows). The attached image was resized 3x, then reduced 50% and saved out as a jpg. You can see a "halo" around the moon's shadow. I don't know if that is from Ninox or Registax.

I get a ringing effect too, I just assumed it was the sharpening effect. I'm sure it's more complicated than that!

I haven't tried the new version yet. I gues I have to change from Win Ninox to the command line version correct? The lines in the old version show up with just the slightest wavlettes. They are horizontal lines all over the image about one pixel apart.

I'm having issues there too, but I built the INI file (command line version) and it seems to work. I then register and stack in Registax 5. These are .bmp files not .fit, and then I'm still looking for a good deconvolution sw that doesn't trash the images after 2 iterations... I use Registax for the wavelets and Photoshop CS4 for tweaks and resampling to 50%.

Mike thanks for the link!! How do you setup the directories for the command line ninox. With winNinox I set it up as : C\Ninoxed\Jupiter1bmp\RGB <in individual folders. When I try this for the command line version it can't find the folders. So my question is how do I process all of the RGB's in seperate folders marked RGB?

Humm... that'll be in the advanced version!

I'd probably setup a windows batch file that just runs the same ninox command three times with the subfolders R, G and B.

whduke,

Which version of Winninox are you using? I have 1.2 and for me it works fine (under Win XP Pro).

I have 1.2 also, but im trying to resize like Bird. Bird said the artifacts / numerous lines in the image might be due to the older version of ninox. Im going to stick with Ninox and just buy a 3x barlow. I will use the 2.5 on average seeing, and the 3x on good seeing. Thanks for the help everyone!!

Yep had some problems with Ninox to, but somebody helped me out with some basics.
Somebody should put all these 'softwares' together like
virtul dub, Ninox, Registax, Astra Image and PS so it's one package for you to choose the processing you like.
The most important is to select the best frame (=quality) and start from there so you can decide how many frames to stack for furture processing.

Hi guys, winninox should be compatible with the latest version of ninox, if in doubt give DaveP (the author) a yell and ask him to check it.

The ringing artifacts from the earlier posts will be from registax, ninox doesn't do anything that could cause that.

cheers, Bird
