Grateful Dead and Vela X new
      #3414990 - 10/27/09 09:36 PM

Did anybody catch the episode of "THe Universe" that showed how Mickey Hart and the Grateful Dead are composing music based on the natural rhythms of the RF emissions of pulsars like Vela X?

This is the kind of creativity that only a lifetime of mind-expanding drugs can spawn.

I assume you are not saying that is a bad thing.

The Grateful Dead have given many of us untold enjoyment over the 40 plus years we've been listening to them.

If a drug can turn you into Mickey Hart, I want some of that!

Small correction...Mickey is basically doing most of this on his own as a solo project.

Nope...I'm a lifelong Dead fan.

The album is Mickey's solo project, but supposedly The Dead were performing some of those compositions on tour last year.

Just ain't the same without Jerry!

I posted this in the thread about The Universe:

If you found the segment about the Vela Pulsar and Mickey Hart fascinating, here's a link to a Jodrell Bank Observatory webpage so you can listen to the Vela Pulsar again or whenever:

The Sounds of Pulsars

Clear Ears!

I thought I'd just repeat it here. There are 4 pulsar sound files and they are downloadable. You can speed 'em up or slow 'em down in Windows Media Player (what I use).

Are there any links to Mickey Harts work? I'd love to here it.

I suggest searching YouTube. I have no idea what you'd find.
