I have been wondering about this lens. Am thinking about maybe purchasing and building a wooden tube to start with. Any body have any thoughts on these? Thanks for any advice.

I have had my 6"f/10 from ales at Istar a couple of weeks now. I have been laid up with a bad back though. I have gone the aluminium route this time. Plyscope(a forum member here) has made some beautiful wooden tubes for his lenses I'm sure he could help you out with a design. His tubes really are a work of art.

The very best of luck with the build. Ales at Istar always keeps you up to date with how things are moving along and takes a keen interest in what you are doing with his lens.

Thanks for the compliment Glen. The main reason I use wood is because I don't have the skills with metal. I am looking forward to hearing your first light report on your 6" f10 when your back is better. Don't rush it though, your health is more important than the telescope.

Credit where credit's due Andy. Beautiful tubes

The back is easing some now. Done a little spray painting on the innards. Next is sorting the baffle system,Black card and Black foam. Something lightweight

Clear Skies.
