lxd75..polar alignment scope

hello does the polar scope ship from the factory loose..really loose? I realize rotation needs to be adjusted but sloppy loose?

also latitude..hmm whats the best link to figure out the best latitude..meade's book I think is off by 3 degrees..I am assuming thats possible

sheboygan wisconsin 53081...I have a reading of 43.7072
meades book 46 degrees...hmm.

My alignment scope was not loose within the axis. It's solid, and a pleasure to use.

And after the incident with the "C" clamp, I wouldn't be one to trust Meade on the accuracy of their instruction books

One issue I did have with mine, though: one of the little button batteries used to illuminate the crosshairs basically fell apart.

When it wouldn't light up anymore (after only 3 or 4 observing sessions), I opened the case and one of the battery casings came apart, leaking black powder all over my hands.

It burns!

My first LXD had that problem as well: it is supposed to be tight and aligned so that the silver circle can be used for alignment.I have a link for aligning this somewhere and when I find it I will post.

For accurate LAT/LON, use www.airnav.com for the nearest airport. The one 3 miles North of Sheboygan is listed as 43.46.10LAT/87.51.05LONG

Polar scope seems intact here.
Latitude adjustment t-screw lost 1 chrome ball, super glued back on.

For lat/lon I used terraserver
