(Use it in analog video capture)
Today (Wednesday) Woot is selling Diamond Multimedia/ATI
TV Wonder USB2 HDTV Stick (TVW600USB) spec here for $25 shipped.
It has Digital DTV tuner, analog tuner, S-video, and composite video input. No ClearQAM tuner though. Per spec sheet 32bit (and 64bit driver) Vista is also supported.
These usually require fairly fast machines. Additional info :
- analog video is software compressed by PC (DTV is MPEG2 already)
- Some tried on 32bit Win7 and it works.
Clear Skies!

It says it has...S-video input with adapter... Does that mean that it's not a true S-Video input?

"Capture from VCRs, camcorders with the included audio/video input cable"... Looks like a TV tuner, with other interesting possibilities...

Greg,
Click he product picture to see the zoomed picture.
"S-video and composite video" adapter is a cable which plugs into the dongle. S-video signal is then fed into the USB stick's video AFE/digitizer IC.

A year ago I purchased a very similar product from Pinnacle. I've used mine to successfully capture S-Video from my Mallincam. Fun little unit but the Pinnacle HDTV s/w isn't always the most stable. It does work better with some extra cpu and ram although my laptop with a 1.6Ghz Core2 Duo cpu does handle it just fine. If I'm manipulating the S-Video streams from the Mallincam I prefer to use my desktop (more/faster cpu, ram and video processing).

Just wish to add that today I received the device. I found out that for ATSC TV viewing, the "Catalyst Media Center" (software MPEG decoder and the video driver) is not optimized for my PC (a Merom-2M Pentium Dual-Core T2370 laptop) thus display is jittery. However, when I used Microsoft's "Windows Media Center" (I have Vista Home Premium 32bit) to display DTV, even in time-delayed playback mode, it worked perfectly fine.
I'll try analog NTSC baseband video in very soon and report back.

Now tried baseband composite video. Now "Catalyst Media Center" worked fine and looking good/no jitter/stutter.
Also tried AMCAP which is 720*480 YUY2 (this is a form of 4:2:2 YUV, 16 bits/pixel) video display and still capture.

Just few updates:
1. Faster laptop with a graphics accelerator chip works better if using "Catalyst Media Center". This test machine is using WinXP.
2. The actual chipset in use is
Xceive Silicon tuner/demodulator and
video/audio decoder + ATSC media stream transport over USB2.0 (eMPIA 287x or 288x IC).
Clear Skies!
