I have a C6 SCT on the way but have a CGE mount. I would like to order a set of rings before the scope gets here and need to know the tube size. All I found in the archives is 180mm. Can anyone confirm that for me please?
Thanks!!!

Frank, Yup that's correct. I measured mine at 7" (177.8mm + or - a mm or two).

Thanks Mark.

I use a set of rings that have been converted to a three-point set-up. They are standard Orion rings sized appropriately.

Out of curiosity why use rings instead of a dovetail adapter? I have a C6 and hope to some day have a bigger mount that will probably have the larger saddle on it.

Scopestuff has big rings, which can be ordered with or without the 3-point adjustment screws.

If you are trying to piggyback this or put it on a side-by-side plate then you want to get the 3-point option. If you are not doing one of those things then you really don't need rings you just need a dovetail.

My CGE takes a Losmandy dovetail, not the CG-5 (Vixen) style. I don't want to use a dovetail adapter either since I will use the scope for imaging. I also want to piggyback a guidescope on top of it.
