Skytools 3 Standard or Pro?
      #3429617 - 11/04/09 05:13 PM

I am looking at buying Skytools 3, but am uncertain of which version would work best for me. I have no interest in imaging, only visual. I will soon have a new 17.5 Dob as my main scope. Was wondering from those that have Skytools, would buying the Pro version gain me enough to make it worth the extra expense, or would the Standard version be sufficient for my type of usage? Appreciate some feedback. Thanks in advance.

standard edition is all you need if you visual observe. I have the standard edition. its the best software I ever used at the telescope. mine is hooked up to a laptop connected to a B-box. I can find anything in the sky if the seeing is good. This software is the best looking for comets. No more star charts for me. I spend more time looking at objects.

Only you can answer that, but, IMHO, given its features and database, Pro is the way to go, especially given its very modest price (compared to today's eyepieces )...

Thanks Uncle Rod. I agree, ultimately it's my decision. But I am always appreciative of the insights of others that have experience with something I do not. Even though I am not into imaging, I do like some of the features associated with the Pro version, and have been leaning that way. Thanks again for your input.

like uncle rod said. its your decision. if you want all the bells and whistles the pro is the way to go. if your only going to use it for visual use the standard is more then enough to make you happy. if you want to add on later you can always upgrade for a small price for the pro edition. at this time for me I don't have anything to gain with the pro.
