I just acquired a long time desired Megrez 110. I do integrative video AP and wanted an APO that provided a fast FR and would not only be a wide FOV DSO scope but one that could be used for lunar/planetary imaging.
So here I am with the 110 and I'm surprised at the variation in build. Mine is all white with a silver focusing tube and two set screws to hold the 2" to 1.25" adapter, I've seen others that have black and silver focuser assemblies and all black focuser ones and only one set screw. I'm surprised that they didn't use a brass compress ring to hold the 1.25" adapter in place. The 1.25" adapter in not like what is pictured in the PDF I pulled off the WO website. Mine has a long set screw and no shoulder on the adapter to prevent the side set screw threads from contacting the end of the focus tube, but it does use a brass compress ring. I placed a plastic tube over the threads to prevent them from scuffing the end of the focuser assembly.
I also noticed that most of my eyepieces (1.25") come to focus close to full extension of the focus travel. This may be caused by my diagonal and I'll need to try another one to see if it makes a difference.
The retractable shield isn't quite tight enough and when I point the scope near vertical it slides down. Hopefully there is a way to adjust this.
I finally had clear skies last night and tried the 110 with my Stellacam and images were crisp, round stars and flat across the field, so I'm pleased with the results. Focus is smooth and new for me for I never had the luxury of a fine focuser knob.
Both my mounts use Vixen style dovetail holders making the rings sit further apart on the scope housing and thus I can't store the scope in the case without removing the rings. The WO dovetail plate would probably allow me to store the scope with rings complete in the case but that would mean getting a Vixen to WO adapter. Probably not cheap, bulky and weighty.
Well that's about all I have from my first impressions, and it looks like this is going to be a keeper.
Your comments as to some of my concerns would be appreciated.

Don I have the 110 too, I'm thinking of selling it and buying a C80ED or similiar ED APO for wide fov imaging myself.
I need the funds for a upgrade on another scope, so selling the 110 will allow me a super little 80mm APO as well as cash towards my intended purchase. I had the Orion ED80 and was mightily impressed with its performance for the price. I just can't justify an expensive APO refractor right now.
We could trade experiences on the respective scopes for sure.

Hi Don.
I've got a Megrez 110ED with the black tailpiece and focuser. When using a 1.25" prism diagonal, the focuser tube ends up racked almost all the way out. Under an inch of outward travel left.
The dewshade tends to want to slide back, when the scope is pointed straight up and nightime temps are low. I use a rubber band just behind the dewshade, to keep it from retracting. Removing the dewshade and installing some extra pieces of felt, then reinstalling, would probably snug things up.

You can also remove the dewshield and add a couple of strips of felt, which is what I did with my 110. I've had mine since they hit the market and have no intention of selling it.

Also, if you're not presently using a prism-type star diagonal with the Megrez, I'd recommend that you try one. Even an inexpensive unit from Orion (only about $40). A BK7 glass prism improves color correction, which is noticable a higher magnifications (above 150x).

I have one too and love it (black focuser). My dew sheild stays up unless pointing straight up. I give it a "twist" when I extend it - which seems to help. I recently purchased a 1.25 prism diagonal (Celestron) but on my first test could not detect any difference over my 2" Astro Tech quartz diagonal. I also did not like how far the focuser tube extended with this diagonal. With the 2" diagonal, the focuser is racked in much further. I have yet to complete my comparison of the 2 diagonals, but I'm still preferring the 2" mirror at this time. This is a great wide-field G&G scope!

I’ve had mine for over a year & it’s a keeper for me. My dew shield has not given me any problems.

Kevin my 80ED is a super scope for visual observing but at f/7.5 it doesn't provide enough speed for imaging. I recommended a Sky Watcher 80mm Equinox to a friend and he loves it for imaging.
My 120ST and the 80ED must go to fund the purchase of my 110. Looks like we're working in reverse. LOL

OK now I know my Celestron prism diagonal is the reason for the fully extended focuser.
So how does one remove the dew shield to add some more felt?

Ye, that was my main concern, didn;t really want to drop below f6, but at £175 this one is a steal. Oh well decisions, decisions
