Shot these last weekend with a C9 and DMK21. My best crater close-ups yet.

Cool images. What magnification is that?

Hmmmmm.....magnification is kind of a relative term in astrophotography. The field of view is 1.4 x 1.8 arc minutes. Probably compares to a view through an eyepiece in the 200x to 300x range....but don't quote me on that.

Jim;
Great images, I think one of my next purchases is going to be one of the DMK cameras.
As to magnification, they are such a small field that I would call it closer to 300X.
Thanks; Steve Coe

Steve, once you start tinkering with the DMK camera, you'll find yourself wanting to image when ever you set up to look at the moon and planets. You're 6 inch refractor will be killer for imaging.

Here is a link to a shot of the Aristarchus Plateau this past January, with the lighting just opposite of yours. This is a very interesting feature to me.

Jim, great images -- all of them. I especially liked the Aristarchus Plateau and Clavius, as they are among my favorite Lunar features to observe.

Hubert, that's interesting -- I was just comparing your image with Jim's a few minutes ago, before I saw your post. It's interesting how opposite lighting can make a significant difference in what features stand out. The crater which corresponds to the "Great Salt Lake" in your U.S. image is much more vivid in Jim's image. But, the "Pacific coast" seems to disappear in Jim's image. Of course, Texas is prominent in both!

Ummmm.....actually, it just looks like your sunrise shot is flipped left to right. Looks like it was taken pretty close to the same phase. Nice image. The states thing is very cool.

Oh, you may well be right. I didn't "see" the states thing until I stacked the images. Easy to tell the difference in quality, though, yours are much better.
