Software emulator for Losmandy Gemini handbox?
      #3431411 - 11/05/09 03:55 PM

Does anyone out there know if anybody has created a software emulator for the Gemini control box? I'd like to be able to control all of the gemini functions from my PC. Am I the only one who finds it difficult to use?

Honestly, I find the Gemini handbox simple and intuitive. I have used the Nexstars which are great, as well as the Autostars. All have small learning curves, but none are difficult.

You need to join two Groups on Yahoo (both are free). They are "Losmandy" & "Gemini". They both have very detailed files and posts on all ways to control the Gemini system. If you think the Gemini system is hard just wait until you read about the ten software programs and twenty drivers you will need to get it working with Windows. I'll bet there are an average of 15 Posts a night on Gemini.

The Gemini learning curve is steep at first but if you take the time to read the manual (I know it is long) and use it each day for a week or two it will become second nature. The logic will show itself to you after you use it a few dozen times. I set it up in a spare room and went through the manual with no OTA on the G-11 and tried everything over and over. That way you just learn the mount/handbox and don't worry about any other items.

Wish you Luck, Bill
