hello!
well, actually i am building an 8" f 2,9 brachymedial and an mayer-equilibrium mount. while these are still in the process, at least the tripod, made of 24 mm plywood with detachable feet is finished ... and i like it. I can even stand on it

Niiiice! Good job! How you'll attach the rest of the mount?

hi! the equilibrium mount is also known as "inverse fork mount". it is somewhat similar to a GEM, and I will simply make a mounting plate that carries the head of the equilibrium mount.

I like your tripod Wolfi. Did you use normal nuts and bolts for the legs (are the nuts captive?) and are the adjustable feet home made? I am curious about the brachymedial and the mount.

hi! hm ... i hope to find the right words. - the legs are fixed by knurled screws. therefore, one does not need a wrench to fix the legs - it can be done by hand. the screws are not held by nuts but by something we call Rampa-bushing. it is a socket with a wide thread on the outside so it can be inserted into the plywood. on the inside, the bushing has a metric thread.
- the feet are standard machine parts (called DIN standard parts http://www.maedler.de/en/Catalog/G/1643.aspx). the aluminum things that hold the feet are home made.
what is still missing is the stepper controller for the drives, which i will also integrate into the tripod.

Yea, me too. I don't remember to hear about brachymedial design to be used among amateurs.

Very nice tripod and design Wolfi. With almost 1" ply being used, it looks very strong.
To get a better idea of the size, how tall is it? What's the length of the legs?

hello!
it is 75 cm high. the legs form a triangle with 90 cm sides. the problem i have with the brachy-design lies in the fact that it is very short (70 cm) and has a lens in front and in the rear part. the focuser is approximately in the middle of the tube. a standard tripod would cause problems in higher declination objects.

Oh please keep us updated with your brachy design. It's first time I hear about it. It's a catadioptric I suppose, right? I sow some info on your site but about Busack Medial. I can't say that I've found something useful over the internet about this subject.
The tripod looks great, quite unusuale I'd say. Usually I've found that the pier part is made out of a piece of pipe or something. The triangular shape solves many problems on how to instal the legs of the tripod. No need for welding to a metal pipe or anything. I like it!

hi!
well, if you know a little bit of german, you can take a look at our brachy-project on a german forum - at least there is an OSLO file and a few images of the design. ia also posted a few drawings of the mount there, and some photos of the mount parts. actually, three of us are building the same design right now. but the tripod is the first part that is finished

hi! i made two more photos of the knobs and the legs. as said before, the legs can be detached without any tools. I did, however, not invent this type of tripod - google "Woodmaster", a tripod published by a german guy named Helge Schlinzig.

Thank you Wolfi.
I found the link to woodmaster tripod by googling Helge Schlinzig. The triangular tripod is a good idea and I like the simplicity. I can't read the German but the pictures are great.
