Classic's "Perfect" Paint Found
      #3431998 - 11/05/09 09:54 PM Attachment (17 downloads)

When restoring my 20TE I stumbled across a rather interesting find and application. You folks that restore the older Royal Astro products in particular. I'm not sure of Unitrons tho'. You know how those guidescope and finder adjustment screws along with the cradle flip over lock knobs etc. look? They are not a brilliant chrome finish. Kind of a matte silvery finish that has worn away and revealed the copper flash coat underneath. Well I found the perfect solution short of taking it in to have it replated or leaving that unfinished look to your project. It's pictured below and was purchased at Loews Home Centers. This metallic paint has a unique surface tension that when used with a small fast bursts completely covers the head and gravitates to the rim areas for a beautiful perfect color match. It's impossibble to tell that the knobs have been touched up. Try it and let us know what you think. Mike
