Hi All, I have lost communication with my LX200 R. I have changed the ports I am using at the scope, changed to a newer serial line I had on hand, switched computers, but still using the Prolific USB-Serial converter that was working. I feel the problem as at the scope, which is stored in a domed obs year round. I think the problem could be as simple as the exterior connectors need cleaning, although the plugs are never un-plugged. ANY IDEAS? Thanks Joe

Here's a few:
1. My first Keyspan USB to serial converter would occasionally hang, so I purchased another one, which solved my first communication problem. You might try replacing the converter.
2. Try resetting the Autostar II to factory defaults.
3. If your hand controller is not functioning, replace the hand controller. Mine got zapped because I hot plugged the controller. Subsequently, the scope couldn't communicate with the outside world at all, either via the controller or the computer. Replacing the hand controller with a wireless unit, and resetting the firmware to factory defaults, solved my problems that time.
4. Try replacing the lithium battery in the Autostar II at the base of the scope. I've read a low battery can cause goofiness.

Thanks. The hand controller wire could be the main problem

My serial port also quit on my RCX-12. Nothing I have tried had corrected the problem.
