Doesn't look like any aliens have visited the site since.

That's in Copernicus. A Wal-Mart wouldn't be caught dead in a neighbourhood like Apollo 12 landed in! It cannot be seen from Earth well enough! Wait until they paint the crater blue!

The Starbucks is in Tycho (soon to be painted green). Their coffee is excellent

It is certainly amazing to actually see the lander, the experiments and the trails from the actual moonwalks! It certainly makes it real and not just news reports and history accounts.

I am looking forward to better resolution images to see more detail (other than the first images taken by the astronauts themselves of course)!

Woah... I guess those crazy hoax theorists can finally be silenced! It's about time!

On a more serious note, I wonder where the next astronauts will end up landing? It seems as though so much of the moon has not yet been explored!

Good question. Assuming we do it, a polar base would make sense assuming there's water to be found. As long as the base isn't in permanent shadow, sufficient solar power should be obtainable.

Depends what we want to do there. Unfortunately, other than learning how to live on an airless rock, there won't be much to do.

I think we should put our resources into something we haven't done before - I suspect a human landing on a Martian moon is do-able. They could leave a web cam pointed at Mars. That would probably receive a few hits a day. Are Deimos and Phobos tidally locked to Mars?

Hey Tom. That's a little depressing; maybe a long-term base is in the future?
Humans on one of the martian moons? That would be really cool! I've always wondered about those moons. It's kind of cool because they're just so small.
Yes, they are both tidally locked. According to wiki, at least

EDIT: It looks like several countries are looking into a Phobos retrieval mission. It looks like the Russian Space Agency is planning a launch in 2011! That would be a first!

Didn't mean it to be depressing! If our choice is going back to the moon or going nowhere, I say let's go to the moon!

In November of 1969 we brought back a hunk of Surveyor 3. In the near future it'd be most cool to bring home a hunk of Apollo 12.

OK, then, let's go to the moon!

Yes... A hunk of the cheese, too...
