Does anybody knows if there are apo refractors in the 50mm size?, the only one i know its the borg 45ED , is there any other?.. I think there wasa takashi one..but i dont remember welll.
I want a 50mm apo to be a guide scope and to do some very wide AP with it , so if anybody knows any apo on that size please tell me

adding 10mm gets you a TV60is

For the guide scope requirement I wouldn't be concerned with whether it's an apochromat or not. Centroids can be calculated even with purple halos. Astrophotography, of course, is another matter. The TV60is is the closest scope I know of to what you are looking for.

A top choice would be the Mini Borg 50 ED II refractor (50 mm f/10), apart from a bit expensive.

Bill Burgess is talking about making one check out the Burgess Refractor forum on yahoo groups. With Bill you never quite know about delivery time or how to actually buy one, but for the adventurous it may be worth a shot.

Just to toss it out - if your primary reason for a 50mm apo is wide-field and light weight, seriously consider the 60mm apo's that are available. They have similar focal length to the few smaller apo's out there for not much more weight. The Borg 60mm ED might be of interest due to its very light weight and design with imaging/guiding in mind. The TV60is would be another strong contender, though costs more than the Borg.

You are right about a 50mm Tak. Takahashi made a Tak FC-50 but they are rare on the used market I think

Hi Alex,
I have a Celestron (Vixen) C55 F , a 55mm f/8 fluorite doublet. It has exquisite optics, in the 1/10th wave P-V range. It is extremely well color-corrected. For photography, you might be better of with the 70mm f/8 fluorite with it's dedicated field-flattener, turning it into an f/5.6 astrograph. On both scopes, the lens cell, tube and baffles are superb. The focusser is just adequate. If need arises, a Moonlite or Feathertouch can solve that.

Yeah- the FC50 is hard to find, but the FC60 shows up from time to time. It's a scope I need to spend more time with. I took it outside the other night to look at Jupiter and went all the way to 5mm with it... Amazing little guy.

There is one flourite APO FS-60C F/5.9 on APMAmerica for $839.00. There is a reducer available to take it down to F/4.4.

don't tell me...with the 5mm it was blindingly bright, ruined your dark adaptation for hours....you gotta get a filter

Oh, come on. You're just being silly. Of course the image wouldn't have been that bright through a 50mm with a 5mm eyepiece. I'm sure he was using a polarizing filter to cut down on the glare.

keep in mind the org 50ED is an f10 (for some strange reason -either get the 45 or go for the 60 ED {it only weighs just over a lb}

Thanx guys! I am looking for a 50mm apo scope because i already have a 66mm wo sd one but i put it in dual saddle plate but i Too have a normal raci 50mm Finder from Sv and for me its more easy using the Finder bracket of the Finder than the dual saddle plate, soo i wanted to know if there are more options than the 50mm tak and the 45mm Borg. But on the f/5 or 6 there isnt much to choose from

The only thing I know of at this aperture are finder scopes and binoculars...
