So, I've just swapped a Vixen 130 f5 mirror into a longer OTA, with a smaller secondary, and it functions better in it's new home. But I'm stuck with the 'other' mirror that I really don't want to use.
Question is, can one buy finished mirrors in the 114 130 150 size range that will have contrast like the Vixen 130 rather than the 'white-out' of the 'other' 130 and the Orion 6" Starblast? For instance what are you likely to get if you buy a small mirror from Meridian, for instance?
Along about this point in my experience/development, I'm feeling like Vixen mirrors are the only commercial production mirrors I've actually been able to tolerate, except, strangely, my 4.5" Starblast - and I expect the 4.5" f8 spherical mirrors are usually o.k. too. But the only one of those spherical ones I've got is about 10 years old - maybe the QC isn't the same any more.
I'm getting less willing to take a chance on a small commercial mirror.....

I'm not sure if Dick Wessling sells mirrors under 150mm but he would refigure one for you if your not happy with it. Why not check on having it refigured. He will test it for free. contact info

Hi,
I hate to blow my own horn here, but I am retired on SS disability so I could use a little extra cash. After 50 years as an ATM, Stellafane winner *3 blue ribbons, I would love to refigure those small mirrors up to 150mm.
Why not talk to me too?

Give Ed a chance. I also used to do lots of those small mirrors- They are a lot of fun, especially when done right. (I made my rep on the small stuff) If you get a good'un, enjoy! Mark
