Well, it may not be the point for you and me (I personally prefer the 31 T5) but it might well be the point for those who simply want the widest possible FOV with pinpoint stars out to the edge, and are willing to sacrifice a little exit pupil to make that happen. Particularly for those with larger aperture scopes and darker skies, the slightly greater FOV of the 41 Pan could easily be well worth that sacrifice. In the end, it'll be up to the OP to decide which EP better serves his needs, or simply to keep both...

That's not the point. You'll see more in a 31T5 because of the smaller exit pupil, and its field is often "close enough" to the 41mm Panoptic's field that you'll probably end up never using your 41mm Pan.
But if you have the budget to hold on to the 41mm Pan, there's nothing that prevents you from doing so (yes, the exit pupil is large, but you're doing it for the field anyway).

When you are an old geiser like most of use out here you will be able to buy all this junk too. But personally I would swap it all to be younger again.
Yes, indeed. Oh, too true!

What is the largest possible TFOV on an 8"SCT? How about with a 2" diagonal? I use a 6.3FR on my scope with a 2"diagonal. I want the EP FL that will use all of the 1 1/2" available baffle tube diameter and not vignette. I am trying to decide between a long FL with 68 AFOV or a shorter EP with 83 AFOV. I observe in the light polluted suburbs.
