Simeis 147 Supernova Remnant new
      #3432312 - 11/06/09 04:20 AM

This very faint object was another of my attempts during a recent trip to Taiwan. Given the short total exposure (30 minutes), I do not expect to have a successful picture. However, I am still quite pleased to at least capture some hints of this object. I believe many hours of total exposure will be required to show it in full glory. Comments or suggestions are most welcome!

Technical details:
Tak FSQ-106ED + 0.73x reducer, 385mm f/3.7,
EM-11, modified 5D,
iso1000, 6 x 300s exposures (total 30 mins)
Autoguided using MiniBORG50 + QHY5, PHD Guiding
stacked using DSS, processed using PS CS4
Synthetic star spikes created using StarSpikes Pro

Very good results on this faint object, espcially without an H-alpha filter.

Beautiful image. You handled the short exposure time very well, keeping it natural and not over-pushed.

I agree, great results for a relatively short amount of time!
Must have dark skies?
Also, the 5D and 5DmII sensors are EXTREMELY sensitive in Red,and even the Blue channel after modification..
Which is why the 5DmII is on my wish list for next year!

Beautifully done processing too!

Great job with such short time on such a dim object!
I guess working at F3.7 helps gather photons fast

Well it is a modded camera for starters and adding a alpha filter does not increase the red sensitivity of the camera beyond the mod - thats a myth. This has all to do with a fast scope (f3.7) and dark skies - and skill of course
