Hi,
It's been about a year since I have had what I consider good seeing, the recent images I have posted have been in more or less only fair seeing, the seeing I had when this Janssen image was taken 11-05-09 I would rate as very good 8 out of 10

Thanks,

Wow, that good seeing was worth waiting for! Excellent image, looks like it was shot from lunar orbit!

Stunning image Wes! Definitely the gold standard for any image of this ancient feature. Just as an estimation, how many very good seeing nights do you experience every year in Oklahoma? Fantastic work!

Wes, absolutely incredible image! Looks like near perfect conditions for that huge 18" mirror. Thanks for posting that beauty!

Stupendous! Words can hardly express the astonishment of resolution this amazing. And the tonal quality is even more impressive. I have the same question, what are the smallest features here?

Hi Rich,
Thank you, I usually get good lunar images one out of every four times I'm out imaging and I usually image the Moon twice each month so that would mean about six nights of good seeing in one year and probably only half that amount would be excellent seeing here in Oklahoma.

Hi Alan,
Thanks!, yes as I'm sure you have also experienced I get a little hyped up when the seeing is close to excellent, I'm usually trying to get all the images I can before the seeing goes away.

Hi Glen,
Thank you, In the past I've had a couple of my best lunar images measured by others with them showing a best small crater resolution of 400 to 500 meters, this one may be in that ball park.
Thanks,
Wes Higgins

Hi Torsten,
Thanks!, I always use a Baader 680nm IR Pass Filter, with my 18 Inch scope the slight light and resolution loss is IMO more than made up for with the increase in favorable seeing the filter provides in that band range.
