What are y'all using to transport your Atlas? Awhile back I saw an overstock "UPS" hardcase that would work fine, but not sure where to get one now. I'd like to avoid the expense of a Pelican if possible.

I am using a Pelican 1600 (sorry about that!)
I ordered it without the foam insert, and used some foam from a camping mattress where necessary.

Unfortunately, the UPS hard cases have disappeared from the Herbach & Rademan source site. I've used one for almost four years, and it is certainly a cheap but effective solutions.

I purchased a large luggage bag with handle and rollers.
The head just fits inside with one inch foam all around.
I was fortunate at work to get some denser 1" shipping &
packing foam that I used. Cut my cost way down since I
also got the bag on sale.

I had no intention of paying for Pelican, either. Seems somehow wrong to put this cheap and utilitarian (but good) mount in a ritzy case.
Lo and behold, Walmart had Atlas cases! Well, _they_ called 'em "Rubbermaid Storage Containers," but they worked like scope cases anyhow. 10 bucks for one, a few dollars for some scope case foam...err..."CRAFT foam"...they also had, and my Atlas has been riding happily on road trips for a couple of years.

Not an Atlas, but for our Sirius, I built a plywood box. I set the mount in it laying on it's side and bolt it to the bottom of the box thru the mounting bolt hole. The lid gets closed and the mount travels in an upright configuration.

For Sirius there is a made in china tool case... I have some of them. Use to be at 20€, but also 3 nested tool cases by 18€!!!
The one with my old EPs, in this box a Sirius/HEQ5 fits:

I used a Celestron case for my EQ-6 Pro. Unfortunately, they are not inexpensive. However, they do the job well and for a lower price than a similarly size Pelican case.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I may go with the big tupperware from Wally world for now. That way it will match my C8!
Later on I may break down and get a Pelican if I'm back and forth to a dark site often.

I use a couple of hard shell golf travel cases. One for my EQ6 and tripod, the other for my MAK-Newt 190. The cases were about $90 each. The foam was almost as much as the cases.

Pelicans are nice. Hardigg Storm Cases are almost as nice and significantly less expensive if you shop around. When we buy cases at work, we find dealers are willing to give a significant discount off list when asked.
Both Pelican and Storm Cases are so nice, and expensive, that if I had any, I'd want cases for them. I kinda like shopping around and repurposing inexpensive cases intended for other things.

I have various sizes of Hardigg military/industrial . Now storing air. Most have foam. I posted them in the S&S awhile back, perhaps as much as a year, or more. I bumped them once or twice, but things were going to the bottom of the list fast. Perhaps it is better now, with the new ad format.
The way to buy a box is to specify the interior dimensions which you require, in preference to naming a model or brand. That saves lots of extra research for all involved

I actually think the Hardigg's are more expensive. For example, the Hardigg 2200 (15x10.5x6) WITHOUT foam runs $88 street price. A Pelican 1500 (16.75x11.18x6.12) WITH foam runs $99 street price. The Hardigg foam runs more than $10.
