This is a fairly small emission nebula in Perseus though has a lot of surrounding wispy nebulosity only partially captured here. This is 3.5 hours of 12 minute Ha subs, taken with QSI540wsg on 10"LX200R at f/10. I had forgotten how difficult imaging at this focal length can be and my evening was frought with guiding disasters. I was lucky to salvage anything. I think the QSI goes back on the refractor tonight. Thanks for looking. Derek

You're a brave man, Derek. I think it looks good with the different densities of nebulosity. I'm not sure I have ever seen this one.

Great work at f/10 Derek. I'm with Hunter - not sure I have ever seen this one before. Do you have a 6.3 focal reducer that you could use?? Or does that cause you problems with the OAG?

Thanks Hunter and Dan. I think this one gets overlooked because of its size and because there are so many other interesting objects in the neighborhood. And Dan your exactly right. I had it perfectly framed with my Meade 6.3 FR but the field beyond the imaging chip must have been so distorted that it virtually obliterated any guide stars within reach of the OAG / Lodestar. Once I took the reducer off the guide stars popped right into view.

Nice image Derek. I've used the QSI583wsg with the focal reducer and had no problem finding guide stars. Got a question. How old is that Meade focal reducer?

It's about 3 years old. I know there was a bad batch at some point, but I don't remember the details.
