Netbooks and Webcam Astrophotography
      #3434881 - 11/07/09 03:40 PM

Is anyone here using a netbook in connection with webcam astrophotography?

I don't particularly desire a full house laptop and am thinking a netbook would work just fine for shooting the sky with a webcam.

Well as long as it has at minimum 1 gb of ram, and a usb port I would think you should be fine. As long as its running windows, it should be good to go

I've been looking at the ASUS EEE PC model 1005HA that's currently selling for about $360 on Amazon. The appropriate 2GB memory chip sells for about $40.

My son has one and swears by it rather than at it.

I was just wondering if anyone else was using one to do astrophotography. Ya gotta love the 10 hours of run time.

I use an Acer A150(8.9") and Acer D150(10.1") with an Orion LPI camera and have no problem. The only negative is the lower screen resolution, 1024x600. There is a program available to solve that, a Downscaling Switcher.
