Just thought i would post these images of Mars. Im still very new at the settings for Mars, but I expect the results will get better as the disk gets bigger. Processing is a lot different for Mars. I did have a problem with my computer not letting me shoot at 60Fps, so this was shot at 30Fps, with very low gain.

Yep 4am with a freeze warning!! Very cold!! I still have to figure out the settings, and processing. With the disk so small it really takes some different processing, and image setup as well.

If Mikes image was from this morning too, you both shot at about the same CM. Mine was from an hour later. In your image, it looks like you caught some morning limb clouds, but I can't see any at all in Mikes. If Mikes is from this morning, I'll be a bit perplexed.

Yep we both shot at the same time, is that clouds? Im going to get a 3x TV barlow for good seeing. This powermate 2.5x is not cutting it.

As far as settings, it looks to me like you have them down pretty good. Thats a fine result in every way, including color. I'd just say remember you can shoot a 4 minute avi at this point get get a lot of frames.

To me, they look like clouds, but I see none whatsoever in Mikes image. They do burn off quick, if they are clouds, which is why I would say I don't see them in my image. I honestly think they are real features, but they should be showing up in Mikes. Can you split the bmp into R G and B and post them?

The RGB channels were 2minutes each. The total frames per channel were around 3600, and I stacked about 800 per channel. I will try to post the raws soon.

Hard to tell, but it looks like your blue image is showing the the clouds I see in RGB. Can't seem them in the Red, which would be typical of morning limb blue/water ice clouds. I'm no expert, but I think they are water/ice clouds and not artifacts. But Mikes image is of such high quality he should have picked them up too. Perhaps Christophe Pellier will read this thread and chime in.

I have 4 caps, and it shows in each image. I only used wavlettes in IRIS fine 2.3, and finest 3.3. I exposed the histogram at around 240 for each channel, is that too high? Im very new to imaging this planet. By the way here is another shot.

How about this image no wavlettes, just crisp filter which does not introduce artifacts like the other filters. The so called clouds still show up.

That last shot doesn't make it look like there are as many clouds as the first one. And the last shot seems to show some typical limb brightening. Maybe there aren't as many clouds there as I though, which would explain why Mike's image didn't pick any up.

Mike's image did pickup some of the clouds, but i believe the difference is that mine is a little overexposed. If you look a little bit above the bottom white limb you can see more detailed clouds. I did have the histo right at 250 actually. With the brightness of Mars varying due to its fuzzy appearance, I might need to lower the histo. What would our fellow forum members recommend?

Honestly Mitch, I think you are makng the best out of what the seeing you have will alllow. Like my image, I can see how much better the image could be if it weren't for the seeing. Its been poor-average here at best, and being in an El Nino pattern, I'm afraid most of the US will be that way though the winter.
