Hello,
Thanks for your responses.

Whilst I am happy to determine that this product is not suitable for my situation, can I suggest that you invest in more comprehensive documentation for the product?

You were the one that stated that your product is compatible with the Losmandy Titan (and others) that ships with servo motors, but later on you stated that it only works with stepper motors, and that an after-market mod is required in order for servo motor based mounts to work with your product.

This information is best made available via product documentation - for most other commercial manufacturers, these are commonly included within requirements and specifications sections of product documentation available from the manufacturer themselves - and not from online forums and user-community resources.

Further, if there IS such a large community out there, why not include links to these under the product's support pages on your website. Personally I was put off by your directing me to go "google for more information". I'm sure that I'm not the only purchaser who prefers to obtain documented product requirements and specifications information directly from the manufacturer.

Regards,

skybsd

Hi skybsd,

nice conversation.

It's not the vendors discussion forum but you are welcome to visit the private LittleFoot Community and hopefully a Community with over 1600 Members IS large enough to get in touch with others useing a LittleFoot controller.

Just my two Cents to this discussion about why a stepper controller is not able to drive Servomotors.

    Clear skies!

    Hello,
    Good to hear from you..,

As your colleague previously advised - if I already have Gemini, why would I want to bother with this product or expense of (so far, undocumented and uncosted) required mods?

    Regards,

    skybsd

    Hello,
    I do apologize.

I incorrectly determined a relationship given a name similar to yours being linked at the vendor's support page - as well as the fact that you elected to choose the vendor's product where most folks have their avatars.

    Regards,

That's a little hard to swallow as on "your" web pages you claim to be the creator of the controller. And the support page references your site.

this is correct, I did the developement but I do not sell the controller.

Please read the note on my website:

Also for this do it yourself project I shall not offer any boards, cards or any other assembly parts.
    ...
If an enterprise wants to offer this project or parts therof I shall not oppose or ask for licence fees (I am happy if stargazers get easier access to the assembly parts and can join this private project).

Deepsky-Solutions is one of the companys that have the permission and we should not hijack the vendors thread.

This will be my last post on this subject.

There was no attempt to highjack this thread. And yes, anyone interested in the product should be able to have their questions answered. I just find it hard to believe, and I'm sure others as well, that in this day and age someone would put so much time and effort into creating such a product and then just gives it away so others can profit from his hard work. Others he claims to have absolutely no connection with. Nuff said.

Other than my doubts concerning the above, I see this as a very interesting product. Although there still seems to be some confusion over what mounts it will work with "without" a major motor swap. I'm sure they'll sell quite a few once the dust settles and it's more evident which setups will work right out of the box. And of course the subsequent user feedback.

sorry if I used the wrong word hijack, I am german and did not mean it so hard as it was understood. I just wanted to make clear that this product is sold by Deepsky Solutions and the questions should be related to the product and not to the developers behind it. If you like to build the controller by your own you are very welcome to join the Community but here a ready made device is offered.

Yes, I totally agree but would you ask your TV Dealer who did the developement and how the developer is involved in the company? Are questions about a developer that DO NOT sell anything product related? In my opinion Deepsky Solutions is offering a product that is unique and it do not make any difference to me who did the developement.

Would you write that to Mel Bartels as well? The LFE is a DIY Project that did grow over many years. There is a large community around the project and you can build the controller by your own if you deside to do so. Everything Partlist, PCB Boardfiles and the Firmware IS FREE available to download or on request!!! I did not sell the project and Deepsky Solutions is NOT the owner of it. I gave the Vendor the right to build the controller and offer it as ready made device as a lot starfriends are not able to build the controller by there own. So there was no rights transfer and I gave nothing away.

Correct, and that's why I allowed Deepsky-Solutions to build and sell the controller. Not everybody is able, many did so , to create the PCBs, solder small SMD Parts, programm the MCUs and so on. I had so many questions if I could offer a ready made device or a Kit with the required parts so I think we should all be happy that there is a company offering this wonderfull device for a reasonable price. I simply do not have the time to jump into this business.

Yes, but you can simply ask the Vendor what you have to do to adapt the controller to your setup. I think it is clear now that it do not make sense to buy a 1500 US$ Servosystem and then switch over to a stepper controller. I think the confusion just come up because the Servomotor discussion. If you have steppers I do not see a reason why you can't use the LFE Photo.
