I had limited time with this due to early moonrise. I
finally got a chance to take an image of NGC6888 with the
AP180EDT. I used the Lumicon Deep Sky filter (due to light
pollution issues from my home where I imaged this), and it
really needs some OIII data to round out the image. The
Deep Sky filter has a strong HA component, and with the
modded Canon XS, you lose too much nebulosity trying to
get any OIII or HBeta data to show. The OIII filter is
likely to help with this.
Anyhow, 6x10 minutes and 5x15 minutes at ISO1600 with a
modded Canon XS. I cropped down to try to keep some degree
of scale to the image here on the group. AP180EDT at F/6.9

Wow you really went for a deep one , excellent shot.
This shot does need the OIII with the outer shell , I need to do that too.

Nice one Tom. Most people do not get much of the inner part of the nebula without using a ha filter.

That looks great Tom. It inspired me to read up on the AP180 EDT. Nice BIG scope. Don't think I'll be piggybacking on the CPC. What monster of a mount are you using?

The Deep Sky filter does pass the OIII and H-Beta lines according to the transmission chart, but I saw very little when I split it to RGB channels. The red channel (which is entirely HA on this filter, was overpowering.
I have a 2" Lumicon OIII, so I'll give it a try. Worse that can happen is that it does not work.
Thanks, Tom

That's why the Lumicon Deep Sky filter works with this. The HA band is fully transmitted with a sharp cutoff on either end of it. It does pass some H-Beta and OIII, but has a strong HA component. Add to that the strong red response on the modded cameras, and you get quite a bit of the nebulosity. Unfortunately, I need to add some OIII data to get a more natural color balance with it.

It came to me on an AP900GT mount. Unless there are winds to contend with, it handles the scope well.
