With the weather in the 60°'s this weekend, I got a jump on Winter prep. I put up 250' of snow fence to help with the drifting. Got the Observatory sealed up (major gaps so the snow don't blow in). Just waiting for the farmer to finish picking his corn so I can do a Fall sweeping & it will be good to go.

Perhaps we will be lucky this year and not get too much snow.

Hey Carl,
We have the same weather here, I am in Three Rivers, Mi just 30 mins from the Mi,In state line.
That is a impressive snow fence.

I still have issues with my ROR obs getting fine blown snow under the edge of my side-skirts and up past the roof wheels. How did you solve that issue??

My roof rolls inside of the side walls (see pic below). There is very little clearance between the side wall panels & the roof rails (the beam that the rollers are bolted to). Plus I have about 20" of roof overhang. That helps alot.

Carl,
Very nice. Where were you a decade ago when I built mine??? My rails sit right on the top of the walls and the side skirts only hang ~ 6" below the top of the walls. Also, my overhang is only ~ 8". Usually I'm fine, but if the snow is fine and I've got significant wind I can get some snow inside. I guess that's why they invented brooms...
And to add insult to injury, I'm on a a ridge only about 20 miles from the Atlantic, so we can get Noreasters.

I simply stapled garage door sealer (strip across bottom of garage doors); across where the wheels are. Works great to keep dust & snow out! You can get a roll pretty cheap at Lowes, etc. Roof opens & closes with no problem.

I work in the transportation industry and bought them through one of my transport trailer suppliers.
IIRC the cost was $100 for 2 X 8' sections. I had to get 3 boxes - total 48 feet.
