Out of the box, I noticed a few smudges on my celestron solarfilter.. What would the safest way to clean this without damaging the filter???

I cleaned mine once, if its the metal/glass one just treat it like you would a Mainlens and use a mix of distilled water and 100% Isopropyl alcohol. It has a tougher coating than objectives get so dont be too concerned about scratching long as you blow it off first, and then use gentle wipes. Mine didnt scratch one bit. I used a cotton cloth for the cleaning wipe. Clean white Tee shirt pc. Dave

Hi, Those are pretty tough coatings. Just blow on it and fog it lightly and gently wipe with a cotton swab.
