I stay away from work for one day and somebody tosses this on the fire.

I guess Novell could either lay off all their people (like everyone else...bunch of lemmings), or buy SuSE...Novell has life again!

sprechen Sie Deutsches?

SuSE is my Linux distro of choice. We're a Novell house at work and they rib me for being a Linux user. I may be the last one laughing.

You shouldn't mess with a guy that has a telescope and a tablesaw.

They have been converting a lot of their tools so they would run under Linux. There has been some talk they will abandon their NOS entirely and go to some kind of directory services running under Linux.

SuSE has been loosing some money lately so Novell can't be looking at a cash cow. And it throws some interesting curves into the SCO debacle - although that appears to have cooled off a bit.

Interesting times. With market consolidation an Apple and Novell merger can't be that far fetched of an idea. Certainly easier to consider than Mecedes Benz and Chysler!

Apple and Novell?

I'll believe that when I see it. IMO - The ONLY way that would ever happen would be for apple to buy novell...
