A Summers worth of Equipment new
      #3457091 - 11/19/09 02:05 PM

Like alot of others here on CN I have complained about the weather and the constant clouds this summer. I compiled a video of my outings this year and while I am a refractor nut the video shows a broad range of scopes, mounts, diagonals, Dob drivers and other equipment.

All in all it was a good summer! If you would like to see my video follow the link. Sorry the link is not good in all countries although I do not know why. The iTunes ad is not my idea, I guess it is a Youtube thing.

Moderators, if you feel the need to move the link it's Ok but it really is about equipment.

At first I thought it was a commercial for D&G
Then I think I caught a glimpse of an SCT.

Nice job.
Thanks for posting it.

I liked the scene at the 1:25 point in the video the best. On an unrelated note, can someone define narcisssim for me?

Personally I liked the truss dob as the very end best, anyone know if that is a production scope or just a homemade scope? Really nice looking in either case.

On a critical note I think there are just to many complicated sweeps and fades in the video. I think the simple fade-in/fade-out or just hard cuts look much nicer and hollywood seems to agree since that is all most movies contain too. When the transition between scenes takes up more time than the actual scenes I think that is a problem.

I agree. I was losing my interest as I kept watching the sweeps and fades and not the subject matter.

Then again, I didn't like "NYPD Blue" when it first came out either. Hand held and jerky does not lend itself to telling a story. They settled down the extreme stuff after the first season.

Alright then. I have to wonder if Clint Eastwood started like this.

Less fancy fades, earlier appearances by Dobson's and SCT's along with a shorter more upbeat format.

Look again Mark, it has moved but it is still there.

Second try

I agree...it was tough to watch.

A very sharp pair of 20 year old Nikon 7x50s and a pair of Pentax 16x50 PCFs are getting all the attention now.

Lane:

I believe the scope is home made. I know it is owned by a member of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society, whose name escapes me right now. He uses this and another scope for video astronomy.

If his name comes back to me I'll get you more information. This picture was at Bryce Canyon this year.

Hey Steve,

Much better and one of my favorite bands providing the soundtrack. Great second try!

Steve,

Thanks for the re-edit. Much more enjoyable and Jethro Tull to boot!

Very nicely done.
